Djordje Jovanovic scored the equaliser which wasn’t enough to earn Maccabi three points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Hapoel Kiryat Shmona.
The Serbian striker who together with his teammates had numerous chances to clinch the victory said at the end: “It is extremely disappointing. We reached loads of chances as in some of them the ball rolled on the goalline but still didn’t go in. It is very disappointing when it happens but we have to push on. I don’t know how to explain the chances we missed besides the fact that these things can happen. Their keeper had an outstanding game and he saved them every time.”
On the fact Maccabi dropped points and the effect it might have on the title race, Jovanovic added: “Obviously it damages our race for the title but the league is still long and we will have to continue fighting for every point”.
