Dor Turgeman will continue at Maccabi Tel Aviv for at least the next three years after signing a new contract until the end of the 2025/26 season with an option to extend by one more year.
Turgeman, who scored one goal in 19 appearances in all competitions for Maccabi’s senior side, told the club’s official website after his signing: “I have experienced an amazing and invigorating year which improved in the summer and just got even better with the signing of my new contract at Maccabi. What got me to where I am now is hard work, belief in my ability to improve and the drive to score goals. I intend to work hard, fight for my place in the team and to do everything for the success of this club and the fans so that we have actually achieve those goals”.
Maccabi’s CEO, Ben Mansford added: “Everyone at Maccabi is delighted that Dor has committed his long term future to the Club. Dor continues to prove he is one of the brightest talents in Israel and beyond. Dor signing a new 4 year contract is a significant part of our squad building for the years to come and we are all excited about our continued journey together. Turgeman joined Maccabi’s Youth Academy from Ashdod in 2019 and made his senior debut at the age of 17 during the Toto Cup Final victory over Bnei Sakhnin in August 2020. In his first full season with Maccabi’s U17’s, Turgeman scored 19 league goals and 3 more goals the following season with the U19’s. A year exactly after making his senior debut , Turgeman made his second appearance in a Toto Cup tie against Hapoel Jerusalem and even scored one of the goals in a penalty shoot-out. The rest of the 2021/22 season Turgeman spent on loan with second division outfit Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam for which he scored 4 goals in 32 appearances. Turgeman scored his senior debut goal for Maccabi in the State Cup tie against Maccabi Petah Tikva as overall he made in the 2022/23 season 16 appearances in all competitions.
In the summer of 2022 Turgeman was part of Israel’s Under 19’s squad (for which he had scored 5 goals in 17 international appearances) and qualified to the final of the European Under 19 championship where Israel finished in second place. In the summer of 2023 Turgeman led Israel to the Semi Finals of the U20 World Cup in Argentina scoring two goals and adding an assist on the way to the historic achievement. Turgeman’s busy summer is set to continue after he was called up to the Israel U21 squad which qualified to European Final tournament in Georgia where they will face Germany, England and the Czech Republic.
