Maccabi will face Petrocub-Hincesti of Moldova in the Conference League second qualifying round following Wednesday’s draw which took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Petrocub earned a Conference League qualifying berth after ending last season league in the runners up spot, three points behind Moldova’s champions Sheriff Tiraspol.
Maccabi will begin the quest to capture one of the 22 places in the 2023/24 Europa Conference League group stage via the qualifying rounds, with the other 10 sides parachuting down from the Europa League Play-Offs.
Qualification in each of the rounds (2nd 3rd and Playoff) are determined at the end of a two-legged ties with UEFA dividing it into two paths – the Champions path and a main path.
Maccabi will play the entire qualification campaign in the Main path thus avoiding teams parachuting down after being eliminated in a Champions League or Europa League qualifiers.
Maccabi will be seeded for the entire qualification campaign but could face teams eliminated from the Europa League (main path) only in the Playoffs.
Conference League Dates:
First qualifying round: July 13th and July 20th
Second qualifying round: July 27th and August 3rd
Third qualifying round: August 10th and August 17th
Playoff: August 24th and August 31st
